Joseph J. Klein, Jr., 50, of Ashley died Tuesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born 15 February 1959 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Joseph J. and Mary Loretta Cunningham Klein.
After the death of his mother at a young age, Joey was raised by his father with the assistance of his aunt, Esther Klein and uncle, Ralph Klein. He attended the former Custer Street School.
Joey had been a former resident of White Haven Center for several years and was lovingly cared for by the staff of Impact Systems for the past twenty years.
Joey had been active with the former Day Development Program and, more recently, the Keystone Development Program.
A member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas, Joey was loved for his sense of humor. He enjoyed fishing and attending live shows and sporting events.
An inspiration to all who met him, Joey was honored on his fiftieth birthday as the City of Wilkes-Barre proclaimed February 15, 2009 as Joseph Klein Day.
Surviving are his sister, Janice and her husband Christopher White of Port Deposit, Maryland and his close friends and housemates, Kenny Kocher and John Prestas
Funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 AM from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service 142 South Washington Street Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown.
