Joseph W. Lynch

Joseph William Lynch, Jr., 70, Bethel Street in Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at his home following a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Prayers for his beloved soul were offered at bedside by his family and his pastor, Reverend John Terry.

Born 02 December 1938 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Joseph W. and Mary Agnes Brown Lynch.

Joseph was a member of the marching band at G.A.R. Memorial High School where he graduated with the Class of 1956.

Joseph faithfully defended our country as a member of the Headquarters Battery, 109th Field Artillery, Pennsylvania National Guard from 1960 to 1965.

In 2007 he retired from Luzerne Optical after thirty years of service.

Joseph was a member of Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish.

Surviving are:
brothers: William and his wife Shirley Lynch of Wilkes-Barre, James and his wife Ada Lynch of Wilkes-Barre and John Lynch at home, sisters Mary and Nancy Lynch at home
niece, Amy Lynch-Biniek and her husband Matthew of Kutztown, Nephews, William and John Lynch of Wilkes-Barre, James and his wife Anna Lynch and their daughters, Maureen and Ada of Bloomington, Indiana and many dear friends, including Helen and Janice Shilkoski of Hanover Township

Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Monsignor Alexander T. Kulik on Wednesday at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Maternity Church. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Friends may call Wednesday, 8:30 to 9:30 AM at McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
