Joseph T. Stagloff, 92, a long-time resident of Moyallen Street in Wilkes-Barre died Thursday in East Amherst, New York where he had been residing with his daughter for the past six years.
Born 8 July 1916 in the Georgetown section of Wilkes-Barre Township he was a son of the late William and Sophie Jakabowski Stagloff.
Joseph worked in local mines as a young man and owned and operated a hauling business for many years before retiring.
He was an enthusiastic New York Yankees baseball fan and was an active horseshoe tournament champion for many years.
Joseph was a member of Holy Rosary Parish in Wilkes-Barre.
His wife, Sylvia Zampetti Stagloff died in 1996. Sisters, Edith and Dolores and brothers, Bernard and William also preceded him in death.
Surviving are his daughters, Mary and her husband Dr. John Blessing of East Amherst, New York and Jeanne and her husband George Harman of Malvern, Pennsylvania
Granddaughter, Laura and her husband Don Szatkowski of East Amherst, New York
Great-grandchildren, Madeleine and Nathan Szatkowski
Sisters, Leona Rulkowski of Connecticut and Sophie Andrascavage of South Carolina
Funeral will be held Thursday at 9 AM from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Holy Rosary Church. Entombment will be in Saint Mary’s Mausoleum in Hanover Township.
