Kathleen Ann Burke, 73, of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Thursday.
Born August 7, 1944 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Eugene A. and Dorothy Blaum Burke.
A graduate of Saint Nicholas High School, Kathy was trained as a radiology technician at Mercy Hospital.
Kathy was a radiology technician and supervisor at Hackensack General Hospital for many years before returning to Wilkes-Barre. She worked at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, Nesbitt Memorial Hospital and for the practice of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons before retiring.
Kathy always enjoyed spending time with her family. She had a great affection for dogs and was very involved in dog training and shows. A member of the American Kennel Club and Lackawanna Kennel Club, Kathy was an instructor and active member of the Wilkes-Barre Dog Training Club. She was the recipient of numerous awards through the years.
A brother, Eugene A. Burke, Jr. preceded her in death.
Kathy will be greatly missed by her sisters and brothers, Mary Pat and her husband Jon Mager of Wilkes-Barre, Dorothy Jean Timek of Wilkes-Barre, Charles J. and his wife Geraldine Burke of Hanover Township, James J. Burke of Mountain Top, Edward F. Burke of Connecticut and Christina M. and her husband Joseph Patrick of Ashley; sister-in-law, Margaret Burke of Wilkes-Barre; many loving nieces and nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Kathleen’s Life will be held Monday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Wilkes-Barre Dog Training Club.
