Linda Dalon Zera, 70, of Bear Creek Township, beloved wife of Walter J. Zera, Jr., passed away at her home in the presence of her loving family on Sunday, April 9th following a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born February 3, 1947 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Alvan and Irene Crew Dalon.
Following her 1965 graduation from E.L. Meyers High School, Linda worked at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Company and as an assistant to the library director at Wilkes University. After raising her family, she was an administrative assistant at IMG Inc. and Hospice Community Care in Kingston. Upon her retirement, Linda served as a volunteer for the Heart Hospital and the NICU Cuddler Program at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
A lifelong member of Firwood United Methodist Church in Wilkes-Barre, Linda also regularly attended services at the Blakeslee United Methodist Church and Grace Chapel in Bear Creek. Linda especially enjoyed traveling with her husband, attending her grandsons' activities, spending time with her card club of more than fifty years, taking trips with the gals, and entertaining at home for a wide circle of friends. She will be remembered for her warmth and sense of humor, and her sassy personality, which always provided a strong dose of encouragement, good advice and fun on family occasions.
Her mother- and father-in-law, Adele and Walter Zera, and brother-in-law, Lee H. Miller, preceded her in death.
Linda will be greatly missed by her husband of nearly forty-nine years, Walter; sons, Walter J. Zera, III and his wife Karen of Swoyersville and Adam L. Zera and his wife Angela of Plains; cherished grandsons, Alexander, Benjamin and Conner Zera; brother, Alvan F. Dalon and his wife Patricia of Thornhurst; sister, Marion Dalon Miller of Kingston; a loyal following of nieces and nephews; other family and friends.
Linda's entire family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Bruce Saidman and the staff at Medical Oncology Associates, and the team at Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their loving care.
Celebration of Linda’s Life will begin Wednesday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there on Thursday with gathering at 10 AM followed by services at 11 AM led by Reverend Joseph Healey and Paul Gerosky, Celtic Hospice Chaplain.
