Loretta McHugh, 88, of Hillard Street in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre died Monday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born August 16, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth Veith McHugh.
Loretta was a member of the Class of 1939 of James M. Coughlin High School and later attended beauty school.
Before retiring she owned and operated Loretta's Beauty Shop on Scott Street in East End for more than fifty years.
Loretta was a member of the Parish of Holy Saviour and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Sisters, Mary Mahal, Nan Rhinehart, Catherine Marks and Rita Harfman and a brother, Ed McHugh preceded her in death.
Surviving are nieces and nephews, Marita, Thomas and Ed Harfman of Wilkes-Barre, Joan Bates of Parsippany, New Jersey, Kathy Everhart of Warminster, Anne Skinner of Exeter, California and Joseph Mahal of Hackettstown, New Jersey.
Celebration of Loretta’s Life will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in the Church of Holy Saviour. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
