Louise A. Callahan, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2022. She lived most of her life on Shoemaker Street in Swoyersville and Murray Street in Forty Fort.
Born July 7, 1923 in Swoyersville she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Edith Boyle Callahan.
Louise was a 1941 graduate of Swoyersville High School and earned her BA from Misericordia University in 1945.
Miss Callahan taught business courses in the Wyoming Valley West schools for nearly forty years before retiring.
Louise was devoted to her faith and was a member of the former Holy Name Church until its closing.
Nine sisters and brothers, Agnes Kelley, Margaret Campbell, Marie Buckley, Edith and Grace Callahan, Julie Kennedy, Thomas, Anthony, and Leonard Callahan, preceded her in death.
Her numerous nieces and nephews will miss her very much.
Celebration of Louise's Life will be on Friday, August 19, 2022, with visitation beginning at 8:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
Donations to Saint Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Avenue, Scranton, PA 18509, will honor Louise's memory.
