Lucas L. Nardone

Lucas L. Nardone, 90, a longtime resident of Carey Avenue in Wilkes-Barre died Sunday at Wesley Village.

Born September 14, 1923 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Carmen and Filomena Ucci Nardone.

Lucas was a graduate of G.A.R. Memorial High School.

He joined his parents in the operation of C. Nardone and Sons, trading as Mama Nardone's where he became an owner of the pizza and bread baking business before retiring after fifty-two years with the company.

A member of the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine, he was a communicant at the Church of Saint Aloysius. He was also a member of the Bishop William J. Hafey Assembly Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus Council 984 in Plymouth, the Onawanda Campers' Association, B.P.O. Elks, Saint Therese's Senior Citizens' and Holy Rosary Credit Union where he served as an officer.

Lucas was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years, Anna Rusavage Nardone, in December of 1999. A granddaughter, Abigail Dwyer, infant sister, Anna Nardone, brother, Vincent Nardone, sisters, Josephine Rotondaro and Eugenia Costantino, and brothers-in-law, Alfred Rotondaro and Dominick Pizzella also preceded him in death.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Mary Ann and her husband Henry Ostrowski of Laurel Lakes, Robert and his wife Marie Koval Nardone of Bear, Delaware, Nancy and her husband Mark Shea of Wilkes-Barre, Joanne Nardone of Harrisburg and Kathy Dwyer of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Stephen (Kim), Philip (Adrienne), Karen (Justin), Michael, Bill (Jennifer), Paul (Stefanie), Kevin (Marybeth) and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Matthew, Rosemary, Sarah, David, Michael, Anna, Emma, John, Caroline and Leo; brother, Thomas (Rachel) Nardone of Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Theresa Pizzella of Exeter and Dolores (Anthony) D’Elia of Pittston; brother-in-law, Saverio Costantino of Hanover Township; sister-in-law, Mildred Nardone of Kingston; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

The entire family expresses heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

Celebration of Lucas’ Life will begin Saturday at 9 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Friday from 5 to 8 PM.
