Margaret Tierney Ellman, 97, formerly of Washington Square and Sheridan Manor in Wilkes-Barre died Monday at Keystone Garden Estates.
Born September 26, 1912 in Carbondale she was a daughter of the late Maurice and Ann Robinson Tierney.
Peg attended Carbondale High School.
Until her retirement, Peg was a retail associate for Alexander's Department Store in New York for more than twenty years.
Peg was a member of the Parish of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception and was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross though the age of ninety-five.
Her husband, Charles died in 1978. Sisters, Rita Garvey, Catherine Penska, Joan Welch, Grace Bly and Ann Hettrich Klein and brothers, Maurice and John Tierney also preceded her in death.
Nieces and nephews are surviving.
Celebration of Peg’s Life will be held Wednesday from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Wednesday beginning at 8:30 AM
