Margaret Mary Bly Kopiak, 88, of Plains, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022.
Born July 25, 1933 in Ashley she was a daughter of the late Malachi and Emily Smith Bly.
Margaret was a graduate of Saint Leo's High School in Ashley. She worked in several different factories over many years retiring from Koehler Brightstar.
A devout Catholic with deep faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother, Margaret was a Parish of Our Lady of Hope member. She volunteered many hours at Head Start through the years.
Her family was most important to Margaret. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Her husband of fifty-eight years, Norman F. Kopiak, died March 28, 2019. A daughter, Norma Prenga; son-in-law, Paul Rose; sisters, Mary Rable, Catherine Rable, Emily Stoodley, Julie Malesky, and Nellie Makavensky; and brothers, Malachi, Michael, Joseph, Eugene, and William Bly also preceded her in death.
Her children, Margaret Rose of Lake Silkworth, Mary Ann and her husband Arthur Long of Wilkes-Barre, Frances Marie Warnagiris of Hunlock Creek, Norman and his wife Candace Kopiak of Parsons, Andrew Kopiak of Plains and Emily Kopiak of Wyoming; grandchildren, Pauline Mickavicz, Katie Rose, Justin Prenga, David, Charles and Arthur Long, Julia and Sarah Warnagiris, Christopher Kopiak, Ryleigh and Ryan Kopiak; son-in-law, Edward Prenga of Wilkes-Barre; sister, Anna Kaminski of Mountain Top; sisters-in-law, Marie Kopiak of West Virginia and Mary Kopiak of Ohio; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends will miss her very much.
Celebration of Margaret's Life begins Thursday, May 26, 2022 with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues there on Friday, May 27, 2022 with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of the Parish of Our Lady of Hope. Please wear bright colors.
Donations to Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital will honor Margaret's memory.
