Margaret A. (Peggy) Wilkie passed away at the Kingston Health Care Center, Monday, February 19, 2018, in her 85th year. Peggy was born and lived her whole life in the Wyoming Valley Area and was currently a resident of Kingston Manor.
Peg was the daughter of the late Harry L. Wilkie, Sr. and Margaret E. (Wiener) Wilkie. She graduated from GAR High School in 1951. Her professional life included many years as the Executive Secretary to the President/CEO of the United Way of Wyoming Valley and its predecessors, the Welfare Planning Council and the United Fund.
"Everybody's Aunt Peggy" was deeply loved by all who knew her and who enjoyed her love for them as well as her great sense of humor. With her large family, she experienced many happy and fun-filled gatherings, from picnics to Christmas dinners, weddings, christenings and birthday celebrations. She loved to dance: square dancing, polkas and a good old-fashioned jitterbug.
A sister, Judy Nealon, brothers, Harry L, Jr., Joseph Carl, Robert, Gerald, Alan and Thomas, and a niece, Joanne, preceded her in death.
Peg will be greatly missed by her sister, Karen McManus, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Celebration of Peggy's Life will begin Thursday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and will continue there on Friday with gathering at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 10:30 AM.
Peg's family is grateful to the caring staff at Kingston Manor and the Kingston Health Care Center.
Memorial donations may be made to the United Way of Wyoming Valley or to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
