Marita Freeman, 92, beloved mother, grandmother, and Nana, died peacefully on July 14, 2022.
Born May 1, 1930 in Nuangola she was a daughter of the late James and Rose Peters Parrish.
She married George Freeman, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and moved to Wilkes-Barre, where she resided most of her life.
After her husband passed away, she lived with her daughter, Rosanne, for the past thirty years. She was a long-time Catholic and operated her own beauty shop. Her world revolved around her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known as Nana to everyone and famous for her cheese eggs and her love of the children.
Her husband, George Freeman, and eleven brothers and sisters preceded her death.
Her daughter Rosanne Desiderio; grandchildren Allen Cook and his husband, Dr. Stephen Cook, Carla Myers, Jason Desiderio, and Bradley Desiderio; great-grandchildren Marley Myers, Mallory Myers, Mason Myers, Leo Cook, Archie Cook, Michelle Desiderio, and Anthony Desiderio; sister Shirley Weidow; nieces, nephews, other family and friends will miss her very much.
Marita's entire family is grateful for the care she received through the past few months from the staff of Mountain Top Healthcare.
Celebration of Marita's Life begins Monday, July 25, 2022 with visitation from 8:30 to 9:45 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, and continues with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
