Mary C. Golden, 97, of Kingston passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1, 2018.
Born October 12, 1920 in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Bridget Gibbons Golden.
Mary was a 1938 graduate of James M. Coughlin High School and attended Wilkes-Barre Business College.
Prior to retirement in 1980, Mary was employed by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Public Assistance for forty years.
A longtime member of the Parish of Holy Saviour and its choir, Mary was more recently a member of the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola in Kingston and the Parish of Saint Jude in Mountain Top. In earlier years she volunteered her time at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her sister, Anna C. Golden, died June 26, 2006, and her foster brother, Joseph R. Mulligan, died March 19, 2015. An infant brother, Michael, also preceded her in death.
Mary will be greatly missed by friends who were very dear to her; all of whom are thankful for the compassionate, loving care she received at Smith Health Care through the last several weeks.
Celebration of Mary's Life will be held Saturday with visitation beginning at 9 AM and followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Jude, 420 South Mountain Boulevard in Mountain Top. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Saint Jude's Church Memorial Fund.
