Mary Besancon Horan July 13, 2015
Mary Besancon Horan, 86, died Monday at her home in Middlesex, New Jersey.
Born March 30, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre Township, Mary was a 1947 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School and briefly attended Fordham University.
Mary was a buyer for the Boston Store in Wilkes-Barre and a manager for Park Variety in Bound Brook, New Jersey.
Mary and her family resided in Bound Brook for forty-three years before relocating to Middlesex in 1993. She was a great cook and enjoyed reading, playing Bingo and helping friends and neighbors.
Her husband, Raymond J. Horan died December 10, 2013. Her parents, Frederick 'Pat' Besancon and Hannah Morgan Miller, step-father, Robert Miller and brother, Robert Miller, Jr. also preceded her in death.
Mary will be greatly missed by her daughter, Sharon and her husband Lance Dumont of Middlesex, New Jersey; sisters, Jacqueline Miller Makowski of Ashley and Gale Miller Richards and her husband William of Hanover Township; nieces and nephews, including Gale and her husband Kenny Figlerski of Laurel Run, other family and friends.
Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin Thursday with visitation from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Friday with gathering at 9 AM and liturgy at 10 AM. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
