Mary Frances Kaiser, 93, of Wilkes-Barre passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2017 at Saint Luke’s Villa.
Born May 25, 1923 she was a daughter of the late Charles and Frances Reed Mohan. Mary was married for forty-nine years to the late Charles H. Kaiser. Mary is survived by daughters, Charlene Snyder and her husband Paul of North Carolina, Susan Phillips and her husband John of Florida and Connie Materna and her husband Joel of Mountain Top. Mary was blessed by the love of her sister, Nancy Rovinsky of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Paul Charles, Eric, Ryan, Gavin and Mary Claire; and five great-grandchildren.
Mary was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and proudly served our country as a Navy nurse during World War II, achieving the rank of Ensign. After the war, Mary worked for many years as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. She later worked at Community Counseling Services in Wilkes-Barre where she helped to develop partial hospitalization programs, Council House and the Senior Service Program. After many years of service, she retired from Community Counseling Services as a Nurse Supervisor.
Mary’s family appreciates the care and guidance from the staff at Saint Luke’s Villa and requests that memorial donations be directed there in lieu of flowers.
Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin Monday at 9 AM with visitation followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Chapel at Saint Luke’s Villa, 80 East Northampton Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
