Mary McAdara Kamp, 93, of Wilkes-Barre died Monday, February 22, 2016.
Born August 28, 1922 Mary was a daughter of the late Genevieve and Edward McAdara.
A graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Mary was a claims representative for the Social Security Administration in its Baltimore and Wilkes-Barre offices for thirty years before retiring.
Following her retirement, Mary became interested in local government. She was an active voice at council meetings and supported various political causes.
Mary was a member of the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine and a communicant at the Church of Saint Aloysius.
Sisters, Genevieve Ulichney, Elizabeth McCloskey, Rita Richards and Patricia Demko, and brothers, Edward and Joseph McAdara preceded her in death.
Mary was an exceptional daughter, sister, mother and, especially, grandmother. She left a lasting impact on all those she met. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Laine Lawson; grandchildren, Reid Cooley and Lydia and Evan Lawson; sister, Margaret Koval; sister-in-law, Gloria McAdara; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin Thursday with visitation from 5 to 7:30 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Friday with gathering at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
