Mary Lou Evans, 90, of Wilkes-Barre, PA fell asleep in death on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Allied Services Meade Street, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 5, 1930, she was the daughter of Lawrence Sorber and Cornelia Williams-Sorber. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Olin Evans Jr., after spending almost 70 years together. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Thomas, son Olin Evans III and wife Lori, and son John Evans and Susanne Evans. She had eight grandchildren Kyle, Evan, Keri, Jena, Olin IV, Laura, John and Jake, as well as five great-grandchildren Ethan, Gwendolyn, Madysen, Owen and Olin V.
She was a graduate of E.L. Meyers High School in 1947. She was a loving mother and grandmother, affectionately known as Nana within the family.
Mary Lou loved watching Penn State football games in person or at home with her husband and family. She also loved spending summers at Nuangola Lake, traveling on cruise ships, taking scenic drives with her husband, and trips to Germany to visit her two grandsons and extended family. She was also a member of the East Wilkes-Barre Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses.
There will be a private memorial service on Friday, February 5th that will be streamed on Zoom for friends and family.
