Mary Mesharer

October 27, 1920 — January 6, 2013

Mary Nauss Mesharer, 92, of Dallas and formerly of Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Sunday.

Born October 27, 1920 in Plymouth she was a daughter of the late Henry and Catherine Molyneux Nauss.

Mary was a 1938 graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School.

During World War II Mary worked for the Federal Works Agency, Signal Corps in Philadelphia.

On Saint Patrick's Day of 1943, Mary was married to the love of her life, Howard (Happ) Mesharer.

She later worked for her brother, Dr. Thomas Nauss as a medical billing specialist at Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons for nineteen years.

Mary was a long-time member of the Church of Saint Aloysius and its Altar and Rosary Society and choir. She was a recent member of the Church of Gate of Heaven and its Altar and Rosary Society in Dallas.

Her husband of sixty-two years, Howard died in 2005. A sister, Claire Nauss Stock and brother, Joseph Nauss also preceded her in death.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Mary will be greatly missed by her children, Mary Jane and her husband David Savakinas of Gap, Judith Ann and her husband Edward Coach of Shavertown, Michael and his wife Pamela Mesharer of Pickerington, Ohio and Eileen Marie Mesharer of Dallas; grandchildren, Vicki and her husband Edward Aldred, David Ryan Savakinas, Jennifer and her husband D.J. Yarnell, Edward Coach, Jr., Tara and her husband Bill Barnhart, , Mark and his wife Jaimie Coach, Vincent Mesharer and Howard Mesharer; great-grandchildren, Caleigh and Carli Barnhart, twins, Katherine and McKenzie Yarnell and Jack Allison; sister, Kathleen and her husband James Burke of Moorestown, New Jersey; brother, Dr. Thomas and his wife Mary Nauss of Dallas; nieces, nephews and others who knew and loved her.

Celebration of Mary’s Life will be held Thursday at 9 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.

Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM.
