Mary Rose Mooney, 92, of Provincial Tower in Wilkes-Barre died Monday at her home.
Born August 30, 1922 in Plains she was a daughter of the late Francis and Katherine Moran McDonough.
Following her marriage to Bernard F. Mooney after World War II, Mary lived in New Jersey for more than fifty years before returning to the Wyoming Valley in 1998.
Her husband died in December of 1996. A son, Gene Mooney and brothers, Francis and Gerald McDonough also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her sons, Bernard F. Mooney of Arlington, Virginia and Mark A. and his wife Jean Lordi Mooney of Three Rivers, New Jersey; grandchildren, Scott P. and Sean C. Mooney, Danielle Mooney and Allison Krise; great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Fiona Mooney, Landon Chavez and Payton Krise; sisters, Jean Cawley of Wilkes-Barre and Katherine Cavanaugh of Plains; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin Thursday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Funeral Liturgy will be held Thursday at 7:30 PM and continue Friday at 10:30 AM at McLaughlin’s with graveside services and interment at 11 AM in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
