Mary T. Preston

Mary T. Preston, 96, of Wilkes-Barre peacefully passed away at home with her sister, two nieces and a nephew at her side on Saturday morning, May 30, 2015.

Born November 6, 1918 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late James M. and Ella Holleran Preston.

Mary was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Plains and retired from Dairylea.

Mary was a member of the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola where she participated in Mary's Ministry.

Brothers, Thomas, Ambrose, James and Joseph Preston, a sister, Katherine Decker, brother-in-law, Gerald Maier and nephew, Thomas Maier preceded her in death.

Mary will be greatly missed by her sister, Ella Maier; niece, Ella and her husband Joseph Lukavitch; nephews, Gerald and his wife Jacci Maier, and Robert Decker; nine great-nieces and –nephews; nine great-great-nieces and –nephews; other family and friends.

Mary’s entire family extends their gratitude for the loving, compassionate care shared with her by the staff of Celtic Hospice and Home Health.

Celebration of Mary’s Life will begin Monday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Tuesday with gathering at 9 AM followed by Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Ignatius. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.

Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Parish of Saint Ignatius Loyola or the charity of your preference.
