Maureen Ruth Stanton, 82, devoted wife of the late Edward A. Stanton and lifetime resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal peace on September 14, 2020.
Born February 19, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Anne Bednar Martin.
Maureen attended Wilkes-Barre city schools. She dedicated most of her life to caring for her family, and was a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend.
Maureen was loyal to her family and friends and enjoyed entertaining them in her home.
Maureen was a longtime member of the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine and communicant at the Church of Saint Aloysius. She was also a member of the American Legion Ladies' Auxiliary in Georgetown.
Her husband, Ed, died September 28, 2019. Brothers and sisters, Stanley, Thomas, Jean, and Dorothy also preceded her in death.
Maureen will be greatly missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Geraldine Martin; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, September 18, 2020 in the Church of Saint Aloysius, Barney and Division Streets in Wilkes-Barre.
Mask and social distancing protocols will be in effect.
