Meurita McGinty Moran, 102, a longtime resident of Bear Creek Village died Thursday at Little Flower Manor.
Born December 31, 1912 in Kingston she was a daughter of the late Richard and Catherine Finnerty McGinty.
Meurita was a graduate of the Dental Hygiene program at Temple University School of Dentistry.
A registered Dental Hygienist since 1934, Meurita worked for the Wilkes-Barre City Schools for nine years before enlisting with the Navy. She served for two years at Coronado Island, California before returning to Wilkes-Barre.
Meurita worked side by side with her husband, Dr. Leo F. Moran, until their retirement in 1962. Together they operated a dental and orthodontic practice in Wilkes-Barre and Hazleton.
Meurita greatly enjoyed entertaining family and friends, and loved her schnauzers, each one named Timmy.
Her husband died April 19, 1983. An infant brother also preceded her in death.
Meurita will be greatly missed by her nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Meurita’s Life will be held Saturday with Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Elizabeth in Bear Creek. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
