Michael J. Dennis

Michael J. Dennis, 71, passed away peacefully at his home on October 30, 2024.

Born February 16, 1953 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late William J. and Leanore Schrader Dennis.

Michael was an E.L. Meyers High School and LCCC Culinary Arts program graduate.

In June 1974, Michael opened the first LGBT nightclub in the City of Wilkes-Barre. Throughout his 39-year career, he owned and managed several locations, including Crystal Light, Paradise, New Crystal Light, The Bar, Selections on the Square, Combinations, and Michael's Lounge in the Wyoming Valley and Michael Madison's in Daytona Beach, Florida. Retiring from nightclubs in August 2013, he returned to Wilkes-Barre and worked in Dining Services at Wilkes University.

His life partner, Steve Kubicki, and numerous longtime friends will miss him very much.

Celebration of Michael's Life takes place on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
