Michael R. Manganella

March 18, 1930 — August 20, 2009

Michael R. Manganella, 79, of Kingston died Thursday after a courageous fight against cancer.

Michael's death followed a pattern he had established during life; one based on dignity, courage, peace and loving purpose. This is the legacy he has given his children and their families and his wife Jane, with whom he would have celebrated fifty-three years of marriage in October.

Born 18 March 1930 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Michael P. and Catherine Connolly Manganella.

A Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict, he served our country for four years.

Following military service, Michael continued his education and earned his bachelor of science in economics from King's College.

Michael was a regional manager for Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals, retiring after thirty-four years.

His retirement years were filled with family; his six children, their wives and husbands and eight grandchildren. His message to them all was that happiness is a choice and death is just a portal.

Surviving are his wife, the former Jane Walsh, children, Michael, Paul, Mark, Kurt, Kim and Stacy and their families and sisters, Dolores Lynch, Catherine Schooley, Jeanne Decker, Beverly Hanley and Winifred Finden and their families.

Committal will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial donations may be made to Hoyt Memorial Library, 284 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, 18704, or King's College Alumni Association, 133 North River Street, Wilkes-Barre, 18711
