Nancy P. Murphy, 86, of Wilkes-Barre entered into eternal rest on January 28, 2016.
Born August 12, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Helen C. Devine Murphy.
A lifelong resident of downtown Wilkes-Barre, Nancy attended Saint Ann's Academy and graduated from Saint Mary's High School. She continued her education at Marywood College and Wyoming Seminary Dean School of Business.
Nancy was first employed with the American Automobile Association. Before retiring, she was a secretary at the Counseling Center of King's College for more than forty years.
A member of the Parish of Our Lady of Fatima and a communicant at the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception for most of her life Nancy also served as a lector, minister of hospitality and a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Dearest to Nancy’s heart were her Catholic Faith, family and friends. Nancy loved city living and everything that downtown Wilkes-Barre had to offer.
Nancy will be greatly missed by her friends. Although death has separated us for a short while, beautiful memories can remain with those who cherish her friendship.
The entire staff of St Luke’s Villa staff deserves the highest praise for the exceptionally compassionate and loving care Nancy received over the past 3½ years.
Celebration of Nancy’s Life will begin Monday with visitation from 4 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Tuesday with gathering at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
