Norine M. Amesbury

January 15, 1951 — December 21, 2021

Norine Mary Amesbury, 70, of Wilkes-Barre passed away on December 21, 2021.

Born January 15, 1951 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late William and Ruth Klein Amesbury.

Norine graduated from E.L Meyers High School, Class of 1968. That fall, she enrolled at College Misericordia with a major in secondary English, graduating in 1972. She continued her education and earned a master's degree from the University of Scranton.

Norine spent more than thirty years teaching eighth grade English at Dallas Middle School and the former Junior High School, where she was Student Council Advisor for nearly twenty years.

Her teaching talents earned her nominations to Who's Who Among America's Teachers and as the first middle school teacher candidate for Pennsylvania Teacher of the Year.

Norine's most extraordinary pleasures included history and travel. She traveled along the east and west coasts of the US, throughout Canada and Europe, and visited her namesake, Amesbury, England.

Norine was a member of the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine. Her father's family were the masonry contractors who built the church, school, and rectory of Saint Aloysius.

Her brother, Bill and his wife Karen Amesbury; niece, Elizabeth and her husband Mark Rutkoske; nephew and Godson, Will Amesbury; numerous cousins and friends will miss her very much.

Norine's family will celebrate her life privately.
