P. Joseph Ruddy, 90, of Edwardsville and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away at Little Flower Manor on Friday, June 15, 2018.
Born July 22, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Peter and Nora Carey Ruddy.
Joe attended G.A.R. Memorial High School and served with the Navy aboard the USS Midway during World War II.
Joe was an agent of the Prudential Insurance Company for thirty-seven years before retiring.
For most of his life, Joe was a member of the Parish of Saint Therese in Wilkes-Barre where he served as an usher and acolyte until its closure. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 302, and as an avid bowler, at age 80 he rolled a perfect game.
A brother, John Ruddy, and sister, Marie Hogrebe, preceded him in death.
Joe will be greatly missed by his wife, Mary Beth Leighton Ruddy; daughter, Janet Finn and her husband, Brian of Horsham; son, Peter Ruddy and his wife Jackie of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Kevin, Amy and Kyle Finn, and Brad and Cayla Ruddy; a niece, Marie Natalini and her husband, Steve; other family and friends.
Celebration of Joe's Life will begin Tuesday with visitation from 7 to 9 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there on Wednesday with gathering at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM in the Church of Saint Ignatius Loyola. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
