Patrick J. McAneny, 86, a longtime resident of Montrose died Tuesday at Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 26, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Eugene and Anna Sickler McAneny.
Pat attended G.A.R. Memorial High School in Wilkes-Barre.
An Army veteran, he honorably served our country during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
Following his discharge from the Army, Pat enrolled at the International Telephone and Telegraph technician school. He retired from ITT in 1989 after more than thirty-five years with the company.
Pat was a member of the Parish of Saint Andrew and a communicant at the Church of Saint Patrick since returning to Wilkes-Barre in 2010. He was also a member of the Elk Lake American Legion Gardner Warner Post 154.
His wife of twenty-eight years, Lillian Ruth Palmer McAneny died in 1993 and a step-son, Jerry Thomen died in 1995.
He will be greatly missed by his step-children, Robert Thomen of Jacksonville, FL, Raymond Thomen of Sterling, VA, James Thomen of Montrose, Carolyn Thomen of Chino, CA, Connie Carey of Chino, CA, Marilyn Thomen of Fontana, CA, Susan Green of York and Darlene Thomen of Cypress, CA; nineteen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; brother, Eugene McAneny; sister, Mary Frania; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Patrick’s Life will be held Monday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Patrick. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM.
