Paul L. Donnelly, 94, a former longtime resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away in the presence of his family at his home in Kingston on September 3, 2024.

Born September 12, 1929 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Thomas J. and Ella Casey Donnelly.

Paul served our country honorably as a Sergeant of the Army during the Korean War.

Before his long career as head chef at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, Paul was a chef at Phillip's Seafood in Kingston and King's College.

For most of his life, Paul was a parishioner of the Church of Saint Aloysius, now Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish. He was a member of the Bishop William J. Hafey Assembly, Fourth Degree, Knights of Columbus Council 302, and was formerly active with the E.L. Meyers High School Band Parents Association.

His twin brother Leo died in infancy. His brothers Thomas, Francis, Joseph, John, and sister Helene Bonavina also preceded him in death.

His wife, the former Carol A. Sager; son Paul and his wife Kimberley and their son Erich Allen Donnelly of La Plata, Maryland; son Gary Donnelly of Kingston; and other family and friends will miss him very much.

Celebration of Paul's Life will take place at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre, on Monday, September 9, 2024. Visitation will begin at 9 AM and be followed by a Funeral Liturgy at 11 AM.

The Celebration of Paul's Life will continue after graveside services as family and friends gather at their home to share memories and condolences.
