Paul J. Gallagher, 86, of James Street in Kingston died Saturday at his residence.
Born 12 June 1922 in Larksville he was a son of the late John T. and Ellen Sanders Gallagher.
A graduate of Kingston Township High School, Paul was president of the Class of 1940.
Mr. Gallagher aided in the defense of our country while serving with the Coast Guard during World War II.
Paul was employed by the Stegmaier Brewing Company for many years, retiring as business agent for Teamsters Union Local 401 in 1975. He then became an assessor for the Luzerne County Redevelopment Authority, retiring in 1998
Paul had a life-long passion for the football and other athletic teams of the Fighting Irish of the University of Notre Dame.
His wife, Helen Flannery Gallagher died 9 December 2007. Brothers, Reverend Edward, John and Joseph, and sisters, Helen and Regina also preceded him in death.

Grandchildren, Sheehan, Zackary Gallagher, Nora and Matthew Gallagher, Moira Gallagher and Paul and Elizabeth Manganella
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 AM in Church Of Saint Therese, Pioneer Avenue, Shavertown. Interment will be in St. Nicholas Cemetery, Shavertown.
