Peggy Doyle, 58, of Plains and formerly of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre died Thursday at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Born May 27, 1952 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of Catherine Dougherty Doyle and the late Joseph J. Doyle.
A 1970 graduate of Saint Mary's High School, Peggy earned her baccalaureate degree in history and elementary education from Wilkes University in 1974.
Peggy was a long-time district administrator for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation in Laflin.
Miss Doyle was a member of the Parish of Saints Peter and Paul in Plains, and a former member of the Parish of Holy Saviour in East End.
Peggy enjoyed travelling and had a strong affinity for national politics. But her true passion was sharing in the lives of her nieces and nephews, in which she played a vital role.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, are her sisters and brothers, Sheila Doyle of Plains, Patrick and his wife Maureen Doyle of Wilkes-Barre, Nancy and her husband Joe Daniel of Wilkes-Barre and Joseph and his wife Connie Doyle of Mountain Top; nieces and nephews, Patrick Doyle, Kevin and his wife Sarah Doyle, Katie Daniel, Shannon Doyle, Joseph Daniel, Brian Doyle, Michael Daniel, Conor, T.J. and Ryan Doyle.
Celebration of Peggy’s Life will be held Monday at 8:30 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9 AM in the Church of Saints Peter And Paul. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin’s on Sunday from 5 to 8 PM.
