Rachel Nardone, 88, of Wilkes-Barre died Wednesday at her home.
Born December 23, 1927 in Hazleton she was a daughter of the late Peter and Jeanette Mercadante Ciavarella.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Rachel devoted her life to caring for her family.
Rachel was a long time member of the Church of Holy Rosary and its Sacred Heart Society.
A sister, Venus Mariano and brothers, Ben, Carmen, Joseph, Anthony, Michael, Paul and James Ciavarella preceded her in death.
Rachel will be greatly missed by her husband, Thomas J. Nardone; son, Carmen V. Nardone of Wilkes-Barre; daughters, Marie and her husband Donald Warren of Kingston, Gloria and her husband Larry Boots of Newark, Delaware, Filomena and her husband David Nelson of West Chester, Ohio and Bernadette and her husband Jeff Frail of Wilkes-Barre; grandchildren, Joey and Julie Arowcavage, Lauren and Michelle Boots, Stephanie, John and Gregory Nelson, Nicole Frail and her fiancé Matt Magda and Kerri and Jeffrey Frail; sisters, Angie Plesh of New Jersey and Mary DeAngelo of Wilkes-Barre; brothers, Philip Ciavarella of New Jersey, Frank Ciavarella of Hanover Township and John Ciavarella of Wilkes-Barre; David Seliga, who was like a son to her; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Rachel’s entire family is grateful for the kind and loving care shared with her by her caregivers, Sherry and Robin and the nurses and staff of Celtic Hospice.
Celebration of Rachel’s Life will begin Sunday with visitation from 3 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Monday with gathering at 10 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of the Maternity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
