Regina M. Carey

August 14, 1941 — January 28, 2016

Regina M. Carey, 74, Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday, January 28th at Manor Care in Kingston. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina (McGinty) Carey.

Jeanne was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School and College Misericordia. She also earned a graduate degree from Scranton University.

Miss Carey taught elementary school in the Wilkes-Barre Area School District for many years, retiring some twenty years ago.

Jeanne enjoyed going out to lunch with her friends, puzzle games and favorite television shows. She was member of the former Church of Saint Therese and its choir.

Jeanne will be greatly missed by her brother, John and his wife Elizabeth Carey of Milford, New Jersey; her beloved niece, Dr. Jeanne Carey of New York; beloved nephew, John Carey of Brooklyn, New York; cousin, Donna and her husband James Muratt, of Charlottesville, Virginia and Harvey's Lake.

Jeanne’s entire family thanks the staff at Manor Care for its respectful care during her long illness.

Celebration of Jeanne’s Life will begin Sunday with visitation from 4 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Monday with gathering at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery.
