Rita Brown

April 5, 1919 — February 3, 2010

Rita Senghaas Brown, 90, of Noble Lane in Wilkes-Barre passed away peacefully Wednesday at Riverstreet Manor.

Born April 5, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late William and Mary Schilling Senghaas.

Rita was a graduate of Saint Nicholas High School and Wilkes-Barre Business College.

Before retiring, Rita was secretary to Michael Ferrance at Martin L. Murray - Heights Elementary School.

After retiring, Rita enjoyed travelling, sewing and working in her garden. While she was healthy, she never missed a G.A.R. High School athletic event coached by her son, Paul, or played by her grandchildren, Shara and P.J.

Rita was a life member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas and its Altar and Rosary Society.

Her husband, Francis Brown died in 1974 and a son, Robert Brown died in 2007. Sisters, Irene Yankowski and Frances Senghaas also preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children, Rita and her husband Leon Schwab of Levittown and their children and grandchildren, and Paul and his wife Donna Brown of Wilkes-Barre and their children, Shara and P.J.

Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held Friday at 9:00 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 5 to 7 PM
