Rita Doran Druby, 80, a former resident of Washington Square Apartments in Wilkes-Barre died Thursday at Manor Care in Elizabethtown.
Born June 9, 1932 in Larksville she was a daughter of the late James and Josephine Doran.
Rita was a graduate of Saint Vincent's High School in Plymouth.
Before retiring she had worked at the family restaurant, Abe's on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre for many years.
Rita was an enthusiastic fan of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins and a member of the Penguins Booster Club.
Her husband of forty-nine years, Abraham 'Muzzy' Druby died January 10, 2004. A sister, Marie Sedor and brothers, James and Joseph Doran also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her sons: Thomas and his wife Donna Druby of Mountain Top, and Richard and his wife Maryellen Druby of Palmyra; grandchildren, Marissa, Michelle, Kaitlyn, Richard, Coleen, Kelly and Brian Druby; a sister, Loretta Burge of Larksville; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held Monday at 10 AM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Jude in Mountain Top. Interment will be in Saint Mary's Antiochian Orthodox Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM.
