Rita Emma Gallagher

Rita Elizabeth Gallagher, 99, a nearly lifelong resident of the East End section of Wilkes-Barre died Thursday.
Born June 10, 1915 in East End she was a daughter of the late Fred and Bridget Bonner Zimmerman.
Emma attended the Guthrie School and James M. Coughlin High School.
She dedicated her life to her family and found her greatest joy in raising her daughter and spending time with her grandsons.
Her husband, John J. Gallagher died October 23, 1972. Brothers, Francis, George and Charles Zimmerman also preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Rita and her husband Butch Kovalski of Mountain Top; grandsons, Matthew, Kaelin, Daniel and Joshua; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie and Matthew; nieces, nephews and other family.
Celebration of Emma’s Life will be held Monday at 1 PM from McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 2 PM in the Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception.
Visitation will be held at McLaughlin's on Sunday from 4 to 6 PM.
