Rita Proeller Hill

Rita Proeller Hill, 90, formerly of North Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre died Tuesday in her residence at Meadows Manor in Dallas.

Born December 5, 1919 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late George J. and Anna Schappacher Proeller.

Rita was a graduate of Saint Nicholas High School and Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.

Rita was a Registered Nurse at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre for many years before retiring, and had also taken an active role, with her late husband, Frank E. Hill, in the daily operation of their family-run Kew-Tee Bar on North Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.

Mrs. Hill was a life member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas.

Her husband, Frank died in 1985 and a daughter, Rita Albertelli, died in 2007. Sisters, Alice Halter, Theresa Knauer and Elizabeth Bitzer and brothers, James, George, William and Francis Proeller also preceded her in death.

Surviving are children, Frank and his wife Alice Hill of Kingston, George J. and his wife Kathy Hill of Edwardsville and Mary Ruth and her husband Albert Answini of Allentown; son-in-law, Vincent Albertelli of Keystone; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Halter of Wilkes-Barre, and a brother, Joseph Proeller of Wilkes-Barre.

Celebration of Rita’s Life will be held Saturday at 10:30 AM from McLaughlin's Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM in Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment will be in Saint Nicholas Cemetery in Shavertown.
