Robert F. Bovolick, 68, of Kingston, peacefully passed away in the presence of his loving family at his home on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
Born August 9, 1952 in Kingston he was a son of the late John J. and Mary Rose Turel Bovolick. Bob was a 1971 graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School.
Bob was always a prominent part of the family business, Anthracite Newstand on Market Street, just off Public Square in Wilkes-Barre since 1979, shortly after his marriage to the love of his life and partner, the former Bettye Lou Corcoran. Together and with their family, they operated the business daily. Bob was always greeting customers with his signature smile and constantly made people laugh with his jokes. He was known for his remarkable sense of humor and selfless personality. Bob touched many lives throughout the years, and many considered him a father figure. His tireless work ethic and self-taught skills in home repair and renovation led him on a new path to investment in and renovation of local real estate in more recent years.
His most precious times were those spent with his family. He was a diehard Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loved to play his Alabama cassette tape on family vacations when driving to and from Alabama and Florida. Bob served as Assistant Scout Master for Troop 154 in Kingston for many years and often helped with Bettye Lou's Girl Scout activities.
His brother-in-law, David Bossard, preceded him in death on February 24, 2021.
His wife, Bettye Lou; son, Bobby; daughter, Samantha; grandson, Robbie; sister-in-law, Ann Marie Bossard; brothers, John and his wife Janet of California, and Richard and his wife Frances of Texas; nieces, nephews, other family and friends will miss him immensely.
Celebration of Bob's Life includes visitation on Friday, June 18, 2021, from 4 to 7 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Graveside services at Mount Olivet Cemetery will be private.
Memorial donations to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge will honor Bob's extensive love of animals.
