Robert “Mac” McGinley, 69 died on January 16th at Gulf Coast Hospital, Fort Myers, FL.
Devoted father and loving husband, he was the son of the late Clarence & Shirles McGinley of Wilkes-Barre, PA where he grew up and attended GAR High School. He started his career in life as a Police Officer in Belmar Beach, NJ. He later owned & operated McGinley’s Brass Rail on Market Street and Mac’s Shanty Pub on Brown Street in Wilkes-Barre, PA before moving to Florida in 1989. While in Florida he continued his career and one of the loves in his life as a Master Baker for many years, after which he worked for Palm Beach County until his retirement in 2010.
Brothers Joseph McGinley and Bill Thomas preceded him in death.
Surviving are his wife, Faith (Solomon) McGinley of Lehigh Acres, FL; son, Robert McGinley Jr., West Palm Beach FL; daughters, Jennifer Blanchard and her spouse Gregg, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Cheryl Harper and her spouse Thomas Ray, Loxahatchee, FL; Stepsons, Bert Stoffel, Wilkes-Barre, PA and David Paltanavich, Boca Raton, FL; sister, Beverly Williams, Neptune NJ; grandchildren, Brianna Lober and Samuel and William Harper. Mac also leaves behind 18 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
All are invited to share in the Celebration of Mac’s Life to be held Saturday, January 21st from 11 AM to 1 PM at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment in Saint Mary’s Cemetery will follow.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Law Enforcement Officers Assistance Fund (LEAF) Or the Palm Beach County Police Benevolent Association in his name.
