Robert Sapak, 68, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, October 19, 2024.
Born July 11, 1956 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late William and Regina Piotrowski Sapak.
A Bishop Hoban High School, Class of 1974, and Luzerne County Community College graduate, Bob worked with his in-laws for 37 years (1977-2014) at Plymouth Poultry, earning the nickname 'Chicken Bob'. He spent those years lovingly teasing his mother-in-law, Shirley Mancini, as they worked side by side running the family business.
After the closing of Plymouth Poultry, Bob continued his work in food service, becoming a Consumer Safety Inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, affectionately transitioning his nickname to 'Inspector Bob' amongst his neighbors.
Bob was a parishioner of Our Lady of Hope in Wilkes-Barre and the American Federation of Government Employees Union Local 2935.
Bob enjoyed shooting and was an avid member of PDL Gun Range in Bear Creek. He was also a member and active participant in the International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA), competing in many local matches at various ranges. He also enjoyed hunting with his brothers, nephews, and friends, and most recently, his grandson, Ryker. He loved teaching his granddaughters, Delia and Devlyn, to fish and was excited to spend time with his newest grandson, Kyler.
Bob never missed an opportunity to help his family and could often be found at any one of his daughters' homes, helping his sons-in-law complete any number of 'Bob Jobs'. He was truly his family's Mr. Fix-It. When he was not busy with family, he enjoyed talking with the neighbors, imparting his wisdom from The Book of Bob.
His brother William Sapak, Jr., and father-in-law George Mancini preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Donna Mancini Sapak; daughters Lesley and her husband Ryan Schrode, Jamie and her husband Kenny Pepperling, and Rachel and her husband Jaron George; grandchildren Ryker and Delia Pepperling and Devlyn and Kyler George; siblings James Sapak Sr., (Bonnie), David Sapak, and Jeanne Januszko (Rob); mother-in-law Shirley Mancini; and brother-in-law Rick Mancini. Additionally, many nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends, will miss him very much.
