Robert J. Zwiebel, Sr., 78, of Wilkes-Barre passed away following an illness on Saturday, November 3, 2018.
Born December 23, 1939 in Wilkes-Barre he was a son of the late Theodore W. and Katherine Gwynn Zwiebel.
Bob proudly served with the United States Navy from 1958 to 1962.
He was a lifetime member of the Parish of Saint Nicholas where he served as treasurer of the Sports Club for many years and was an active volunteer for the annual bazaar for more than forty years. He was also a member of Saint Conrad's Y.M.S.
His wife, R. Joan Rider Zwiebel, died October 18, 1990. A sister, Dorothy Farrell, and brother, Jack Zwiebel, also preceded him in death.
He will be greatly missed by his sons, Robert J., Jr. and his wife Sherry Zwiebel of Mountain Top, Mark and his wife Samantha Zwiebel of Houston, Texas, Kurt and his wife Jennifer Zwiebel of Nanticoke, and Keith and his wife Kerri Zwiebel of Chalfonte; grandchildren, Matthew, Logan, Zachariah and Charlie Jo, Aiden, Jack, Jason and Emma Joan; brother, Ted and his wife Catherine Zwiebel of Hanover Township; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Bob's Life will begin Wednesday with visitation from 5 to 8 PM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there on Thursday with gathering at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas. Interment with military honors will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery.
