Ronald W. Martin, Sr., 70, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away Thursday, February 15, 2018, after a short battle with cancer.
Born January 24, 1948, and raised in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Edward and Florence Martin.
Ron joined the Army at the age of eighteen and proudly served in the Vietnam War.
After battling drug and alcohol addiction, Ron found sobriety in September of 1977, shortly thereafter he developed a passion for helping others struggling with addiction. Joining Clearbrook Manor in 1986 Ron truly found his second home. In his thirty-seven years of working in recovery, Ron impacted countless individuals, helping them to find sobriety.
Ron will be remembered for his kindness, compassion, humor and quick wit.
A brother, Edward Martin, Jr., preceded him in death.
Ron will be greatly missed by the love of his life, Carolynn (Kay) Martin; son, Ronald W. Martin Jr, his wife Stefanie and their two sons, James and Joseph; son, Patrick S. Martin, his wife Melissa and their two children, Abigail and Benjamin; daughter, Heather Chestnutt, her fiance Joshua Bushy and their daughter Lila; daughter, Alyssa Chestnutt, her husband Jordan Albert and their son Reed; his beloved canine companions, Chewy, Benny, Denali and Oscar; other family and friends.
Celebration of Ron's Life will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2018, with visitation from 5 to 7:30 PM followed by a prayer service and time of sharing at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre.
