Rose Testen Doran

Rose Testen Doran, a beloved member of the Hanover Township community, was born on January 2, 1937, in Wilkes-Barre. She passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at the age of 87.

Rose was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose Mihelick Testen.

Rose was a graduate of Kingston High School and Wyoming Seminary Business School. She worked for Massachusetts Mutual Insurance Company for a short time before her marriage to Robert J. Doran on November 28, 1963.

Rose was an active member of the Church of Saint Aloysius at the Parish of Saint Robert Bellarmine, assisting with the annual bazaar. She was also active with the Hanover Township Women's Club for many years.

Rose loved her family dearly, finding great joy supporting her kids’ and grandkid’s interests in sports and academics. She also enjoyed watching professional sports of all kinds, in particular the New York Yankees, and visiting the casino. She enjoyed her summers spending time at the family farm corn stand. 

Her husband of fifty-eight years, Robert J., her son, Robert L., and her twin brother, Louis Testen, preceded her in death.

Her children Susan and her husband Tony Clapps of South Carolina, Kathleen and her husband Tim Weyhenmeyer of Mountain Top, and Joseph and his wife Kristin Doran of Mountain Top; daughter-in-law Donna Kajkowski Doran of New Jersey; grandchildren Joshua, Justine, Kaitlyn, Owen, and Lizzie; her lifelong best friend, Annette 'Nush' Reiss; and other family and friends will miss her very much.

Celebration of Rose's Life begins Tuesday, October 29, 2024, with visitation from 9 to 10:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues with a Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Church of Saint Aloysius, Barney and Division Streets in Wilkes-Barre.
