Rose Rogers Engel

Rose M. Engel, formerly of Kingston, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on Monday, October 28, 2024, at Wesley Village, less than 3 weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

Born November 14, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Frances Rogers.

A 1942 graduate of Saint Leo High School, she worked as a secretary for the Keystone District Council and later as assistant treasurer of Carpenter's Local 542 Credit Union.

Rose was a Parish of Saint Nicholas member; in her retirement, she volunteered at the Red Cross and the Kirby Center.

She was married to the late Donald Engel for more than sixty years until his passing in 2022. They enjoyed taking cruises to Bermuda, visiting the island numerous times. Rose was devoted to family, always putting her children first and later retired to help care for her grandchildren.

Her brother Trino preceded her in death.

Her sons Donald E., Jr. and his wife Terry Engel, and Robert Engel; grandchildren Donald E., III and Tara and her husband Tommy Jarvis; great-grandchildren Caleb and Nora Rose; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Joan and James Richie; nieces, nephews, other family, and friends will miss her very much.

Rose's family is grateful for the care she received through the years from Dr. Dennis Michael Fisher and then in her final days from the Compassus hospice nurses. The family also wishes to thank the entire staff at Wesley Village in Laflin for the compassionate care and friendship they gave Rose over the last one and a half years.

Celebration of Rose's Life begins Thursday, October 31, 2024, with visitation from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at McLaughlin's, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. It continues with a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas.
