Ruby Huffman

March 4, 1920 — April 4, 2014

Ruby Huffman, formerly of Wyoming Avenue in Kingston and Carlisle Street in Wilkes-Barre died on April 4, 2014 at the age of 94.

Ruby was born in Wilkes-Barre on March 4, 1920. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Lewis and Edith Evans Lewis.

Ruby was a 1938 graduate of Meyers High School, and was a member of the Cherry Street Bible Church in Plymouth.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Huffman was employed, during World War II in defense work at Tung Sol Lamp Works Incorporated, Newark, NJ, Spinning Wheel Restaurant, Faith Shoe and Frye Boot. She was member of the Firwood Senior Citizens, Kingston Senior Center, and the Residents Club of Dan Flood Tower.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of forty-three years, Henry “Bud” Huffman, infant sister, Mildred Lewis, sister, Madge L. Miller, brothers, Joseph W. Lewis, Richard Lewis, and Glenn Lewis, daughter-in-law Patricia Huffman, and brother-in-law Joseph Barry Miller.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Lynn W. Huffman of Montoursville; daughter, Dawn Galavitz of Dunmore; grandchildren, Johnny, Tami, Stephanie, Carrie, and Steven; and great-grandchildren, Hannah, Jay, Daniel, Julia, Olivia, Kate, Sydney, Ethan, Ellie, Emma, Colin, Arden, and Henry. They are very young but will remember her fondly.

Jesus, her friends, and her family, were the loves of her life. She always prayed, hoped and loved. Her impact was far-reaching and profound. She had a quiet and gentle spirit and was a great example of Jesus’ steadfast love and sacrifices. Ruby was godly, humble, generous, responsible, self-less, and was a little feisty too.

Ruby very much enjoyed attending services at Pocono Mountain Bible Conference and gave consistently to that ministry. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you donate to PMBC, 191 Clifton Beach Rd, Clifton Twp., PA 18424.

Celebration of Ruby’s Life will be led by her grandson, Pastor John Stange on Tuesday at 11 AM at McLaughlin’s – The Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Hanover Cemetery.
