Ruth Catherine Pesavento, 91, formerly of East Northampton Street in Wilkes-Barre died Saturday at Celtic Hospice.
Born October 1, 1923 in Plymouth she was a daughter of the late George and Gertrude Kreischer Watkins.
Ruth was a sales associate at The Kiddie Shoppe in Wilkes-Barre for many years. After retiring she was an active volunteer for the Foster Grandparents Program until the age of eighty-two.
Her husband of fifty-six years, Geno Pesavento died December 1, 2003. A sister, Jean Reynolds and brother, Joseph Watkins also preceded her in death.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her sons, Mark E. and his wife Eileen Pesavento of Bethlehem and Gary and his wife Janice Pesavento of Dallas; grandchildren, Megan and her husband Chris Murray of Coopersburg, Meredith and her husband Ted Dougherty of Bethlehem, Michael and his wife Sonja Pesavento of Bethlehem and Nathan E. Pesavento of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren, Marin Eileen Murray, Finn and Elliot Dougherty, Grace and Joshua Pesavento; sister-in-law, Rose Rossi of Wilkes-Barre; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Celebration of Ruth’s Life will be held Wednesday with visitation beginning at 9 AM followed by services at 11 AM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in Edge Hill Cemetery in West Nanticoke.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to the Children's Room of the Osterhout Free Library or the Bethlehem Public Library.
