Ruth E. Stanziale, 91, formerly of Washington Square in Wilkes-Barre and Oxford Street in Lee Park died Friday, September 9, 2016.
Born November 22, 1924 in Wilkes-Barre she was a daughter of the late John and Silva Baylis Jones.
Ruth was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Business College. She was a switchboard operator for Pomeroy's department store for many years and later worked in the business offices of Bergmann's.
Ruth was a faithful and active member of Wyoming Valley Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Baptist Tabernacle.
An accomplished softball player in her youth, Ruth expanded on her love of sports to include bowling and playing golf, ping-pong and horseshoes in addition to watching baseball on television.
Ruth often told a corny joke and always remembered a birthday with a phone call and a card. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining, and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Her husband, Enrico A. Stanziale died in 1999. A son, Thomas E. Stanziale; sisters, Esther Haskell, Laura Roberts and Margaret Fink; and a brother, John Jones also preceded her in death.
Ruth will be greatly missed by her daughter, Karen and her husband Gerry Capristo of Wilkes-Barre; son, Paul and his wife Kathy Stanziale of Kingston; grandchildren, Amy and her husband Keith Augustine of Saratoga Springs, New York, Lee and her husband Raymond Meyers of Plains and Meghan and her husband John Conforti of Scranton; great-grandsons, James and Asher; nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Ruth’s entire family is grateful for the loving care shared with her by the staff of Little Flower Manor and Monica Lynn, PA and the entire staff of Intermountain Medical Group.
Celebration of Ruth’s Life will begin Sunday with visitation from 3 to 6 PM at McLaughlin’s, 142 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre and continue there Monday at 11 AM with services led by Pastor Harold Armstrong. Private interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery.
Memorial donations are preferred and may be made to Little Flower Manor.
