Sally Boyle Barrett

Sally Boyle Barrett passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. She was almost 93 years old.

Sally was the youngest of seven children born to James J. and Anna Ell Boyle and was the last remaining member of her immediate family. 

Sally grew up in Wilkes-Barre and lived in several states while raising her family. She had excellent writing skills and worked as an editor for the Department of Health and Human Services, US Public Health Service.

Sally was preceded in death by her former husband, Larry Barrett, her son Jim Barrett, and her siblings and their spouses: Patsy Evans (Ben), Tom Boyle (Nancy, Susan), Jim Boyle (Evelyn), Magdalene Gates (Paul), Don Boyle (Barb), and Patrick Boyle (Helen Marie).

Sally was Mom to Sue Records (Mike), Tom Barrett, Jim Barrett, Judy Hintz, and Terri Dail (Dennis). She was Grammie to Matt, Joe (Jen), Chrissy (Andy), Tim, Pat (Britany), Dan and Brian (Erica) Records, Leah, Michael and Rosie Hintz, and Kevin Dail. She was Gigi to Jude Records, Connor and Ben Callis, Teddy DeMeulenaere, Maverick and Mikey Records, Drayden Rae, Kole Mensinger, and PJ, Zayne, and Aubrey Records. 

Sally was a loving, generous, and supportive Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Aunt to her many nieces and nephews. We have wonderful memories of seeing her dance at weddings, singing along while she played the piano at family reunions, devouring her signature coffee cake, and chatting into the wee hours of the morning around a dining table. Sally was a model of strength throughout her life, the best sender of cards for all special occasions, and a beautiful example of love and care for all of us. We are forever grateful.

Celebration of Sally's Life begins Saturday, September 14, 2023, with a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Church of Saint Nicholas, 226 South Washington Street in Wilkes-Barre. A reception for family and friends will follow.
