Sharon Ann Mathers

Surrounded by her family, Sharon Ann Mathers, passed on peacefully on Dec. 9, 2024, at her home in Dallas, Pa. Lucy, her loyal dog and friend, was also by her side.

Born on June 13, 1943, Sharon grew up in Wilkes-Barre, graduating from Elmer L. Meyers High School in 1961. After marrying, Sharon moved to the Back Mountain, where she raised her children — daughters: Dani, Amie and Becky; and son, Billy. Her children called her Mom or Momma. To her grandchildren (Arianne, Nicholas, Isabella, Peyton, Thea, Skye and Orion) and great-grandchildren (Sutton and Rowan), she was Grammy.

An active, engaged community member, Sharon was always willing to lend a helping hand, volunteer for leadership roles, or just make sure her extended family of neighborhood kids made it to an event. She enjoyed reading, playing card games, restoring antique furniture, planting flowers and watching horror movies.

Sharon sold cars for twenty-plus years, earning a reputation for honesty, commitment and integrity.

Sharon was a super cool, fun mom and her kids will fondly carry memories of her singing in their car, dancing for no reason, playing Yahtzee, making every holiday and birthday better than the last, being their biggest cheerleader and for always — always — being there for them. Meticulous by nature, Sharon lovingly captured her family in baby books and photo albums — enduring gifts that will bring smiles and remembrances with each turn of the page.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, William and Olivette; and two sisters, Patty and Molly. She is survived by her brother, William "Billy" Boyle, who lives in Georgia with his family.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be held in the spring, her favorite time of year.
