Shirley Margaret Lynch (nee Achhammer), Wilkes-Barre, age 83, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2022 at her home.
She is now where she always wanted to be in life: beside her beloved husband William, who preceded her in death in 2014.
Born September 18, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Bernhardt and Sophie Achhammer.
Shirley graduated from the former St. Vincent's Catholic school in Plymouth and the former Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre where she was employed as an RN for 44 years. She spent her last 23 years of employment in the Recovery Room of the Operating Room, retiring in 2003.
She married the love of her life, Bill, in 1966 and they raised their two sons in a home filled with love.
She devoted her life to her husband and sons and was always happiest when she was with them, cooking and taking care of them and putting up her famous Christmas tree.
Bill passed away in 2014 leaving Shirley with many wonderful memories of their life together. She was also predeceased by her half brother Bernard.
Shirley is survived by loving sons William Jr. and his companion Elaine Walton, Wilkes-Barre, John, Wilkes-Barre, brother Carl Achhammer and his wife Joan, Sugar Notch, brothers-in-law Jim Lynch and his wife Ada, Fleetwood, John Lynch, Wilkes-Barre, sisters-in-law Mary and Nancy Lynch, Wilkes-Barre and Eloise Achhammer, Silver Spring MD and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, a great-great-niece, a cousin, many friends and loving canine companion Al.
Shirley was a member of Our Lady of Hope parish.
In accordance with her wishes, the celebration of Shirley's life will be held privately by her family. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 AM on Monday, February 28, 2022, in the Church of the Parish Our Lady of Hope, 40 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
